We are nature. That is to say, we, humans, are nature, as I intend to address this to humans. This is one point I think we forget as we walk around in life. Perhaps it is a symptom of, what mystics call, the veil of forgetfulness. Perhaps it is a symptom of being submerged in a society that is largely tuned to separation consciousness. It is probably both and more.

Separation consciousness is unnatural. This is evident in the function of an ecosystem. If one component of the ecosystem lacks, the whole of the ecosystem lacks. It is much like the colloquialism of how a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

This is not woo-woo, feel-goody stuff. It is fact. The most stoic of skeptics cannot use sober logic to resist the truth of ecosystem function.

And so, we are nature and we are an ecosystem.

While humans tend to need a reminder of these facts, other animals and the rest of nature do not – except, of course, when they are responding to human unconsciousness.

Being as they are, a more natural expression of energy, animals and nature are tuned to the subtle energetic frequencies that serve the highest good of the ecosystem. Such tuning obliges them to support the others in the ecosystem.

Experiencing signs and messages from nature is actually quite logical. Having a pleasant emotional experience tunes us to those more subtle and natural frequencies, and so your delight makes you a better citizen of the ecosystem.

Animals and nature, by default, show us how to connect to the subtle energy of spirit, to unified consciousness. They will appear in your own energetic field in perfect timing, to raise the vibration of your feeling state and to inform your conscious mind. Messages and signs are specifically tailored to you in perfect flow and perfect synchrony. Thus is the function of ecosystem.

As Sonia Choquette succinctly and poetically states it: “Animals are open vessels for divine.”

Nature’s presence is there to support, inform and serve your highest good. Your highest good is the highest good of the ecosystem. Even if the experience is also available to many, like for example, a rainbow, the specificity for you is included in its intelligent design.

This week, I received a message from migrating Painted Lady butterflies. I am in California and as I write this in March of 2019, and we are experiencing quite a show of delight and inspiration. An unusual volume of butterflies is migrating from Mexico to Oregon. The Painted Lady butterflies seasonally make this journey, but our excessively rainy winter set the stage for an abundance of wild flowers to bloom, which in turn, welcomed the butterflies. Here is the journal of my special message from these glorious beings.

    Monday, 3/11/19

Today, while sitting at a stop sign, hundreds of butterflies began to engulf my car, flying over and around, all going in one direction.

As a Spirit message, butterflies are post-transformation, freedom, ascension and light body orientation. I felt into the kaleidoscope of butterflies. I celebrated the message.

I felt gratitude for the encouragement to take flight, to be free and to explore new, creative expression. I felt Spirit encourage me to pay deeper attention, to receive another layer of messaging. It was notable how the beauties were all flying in one direct path. I looked up to find the sun, our faithful compass, to inform me of the cardinal directions. It was about 11am, so the sun sat high in the East.

Archangel Metatron is associated with the central sun, the light of Source, and is the one who supports lightworkers as we follow our soul mission. The symbol of the sun as a compass reminds us that our own soul, our own essence of Source, is a faithful compass.

The butterflies’ path of flight flowed from the sun’s position as they traveled, decidedly, from East to West.

Archangel Raphael, the angel of healing, oversees the East. Archangel Gabriel, the angel of clarity, expression and creativity, oversees the West.

The butterflies demonstrated a path of transformative ascension. In the chakra system, energy ascends from the Heart Chakra to the Throat Chakra. The energy system manages our multidimensionality, fourth density energy being managed by the Heart and fifth density, by Throat.

Healing – being abundantly whole – naturally evolves to expressing who you truly are. In this alignment, all there is left to do is create.

What has Spirit shown you through animals or nature?

  • How Parrots Pair Bond – A Question from a Follower

I received a question from a reader and would love to share my response publicly here, so that we can all benefit! If you have a bird (especially a parrot) or are curious about pair bonding, this will be a fascinating read!

“Hi! I have a blue and gold macaw that I’m having issues with. She’s taken to me and no one else. She screeches non stop when she sees my husband and she’s not friendly with anyone but me. It got so bad that we’ve had to move her out of the house. My husband wants to me to find her another home but it’s nearly impossible and I will not just give her to anyone. She’s 4 and I am hoping that you can help me!!!! Thank you!”

    Hi there!

Thank you for reaching out! I hope my advice and experience will be helpful to you, your bird and the rest of your family.

Parrots (your macaw is a type of parrot) are very social with their flock but especially with their pair-bond mate. Allow me to explain.

By nature, parrots bond in pairs. This means that they create a deep, attached relationship with an individual. They do this in wild nature before they are sexually mature, which indicates how fundamental this need is. In wild nature, they do bond with the opposite sex, and so propagation continues. In domesticated life, they will create a pair bond with whomever is available. A human, a dog, etc, anyone who is available and most suitable candidate will work. If you had another bird, then that would be the first choice, even if they were the same sex of a different species of bird.

Your parrot has selected you for her pair-bond mate. If you were to get another macaw, then she would likely transition her bond to that bird. If you got another bird of a different species, she may or may not transition her pair bonding. If your bird bonded with another macaw, the pair would almost cease having a physical relationship with humans.

Secondary to the pair bond relationship is the necessity of a flock. In wild nature, a parrot would always be with their pair-bond mate and in a flock. In domestication, the flock can is whoever is in the family; humans, other animals, etc.

In domestication, the need of flock engagement is fulfilled by seeing faces, hearing voices, general interaction, but not always physical touch with anyone other than the pair-bond mate. Physical touch is sometimes relegated to the pair-bond mate only, but this depends on the individual bird. Most parrots do accept physical touch from many in the flock with an emphasis on the pair-bond mate.

Parrots are protective, jealous even, of their pair-bond mate — this is why you would likely not have a physical relationship with a bird who has a partner of the same species. This is also why your bird is protective of you and unfriendly to anyone who is not you.

I grew up with an Amazon parrot in my family; his name was Jerry. Jerry came to live with the family when my father was 8 years old. Jerry was pair-bonded with my father his whole life. Even as my father moved away and had his own family, he would cling to my father every time he saw him. Jerry did form a bond with my grandmother (with whom he spent his life after my father moved out) and he also loved my aunt. But the relationship he had with my father never changed.

The most important thing to understand is that it is entirely unnatural for a parrot to ever be alone.

Your bird’s behavior is not misbehavior, it is as natural as the human need for contact. It isn’t something that can be trained out of the bird. Putting her outside of the home, away from contact with her pair-bond mate (you) and outside of the flock (seeing your family), causes her emotional and physical distress. To her, it feels like torture, like a prison’s solitary confinement. I don’t mean to be indelicate, I don’t want you to feel guilty or shamed by my explanation. I am not judging you, please understand that! I am trying to give you all of the information. I am being direct so that I can communicate the truth of the matter here.

And now I will share with you how I have handled having a pair bond with my parrot. My parrot was (she has passed now) a cockatiel. Yes, this is a tinier parrot as compared to your blue and gold macaw, but parrots of all type have this relational need to pair-bond and flock. My cockatiel was named Shale. When Shale first came home to me, I didn’t know anything about this pair-bond business. I got a little book on parrots and read about it. I then went to the store that Shale came from and asked them about pair bonding. The store owners rescue parrots and are well-versed on their habits. They confirmed everything that I have explained to you above. Shale had been in my home for a few weeks and we had, indeed, pair bonded. But I was horrified at the thought of her solitude when I had to go to work. I came up with a solution that helped my Shale.

I welcomed into the home a parakeet. This is a different species of parrot, similar yet smaller in size. I hoped that the parakeet – his name was Fabi – would provide a flock level of companionship while I was away at work. I kept them in separate cages for a while so that I could preserve my pair bond with Shale. After a while, I integrated them. And then I was left with an interesting situation. Shale was still pair-bonded with me. She was still desperate for me, wanted to be with me always, crying for me any time she could not be with me. But – Fabi was pair-bonded to Shale! It was a love triangle! Fabi liked me too, he even allowed me to handle him, although it was usually when I was also holding Shale.

My results are not necessarily typical. Animals have as much individuality in their personalities as do humans. When I devised my plan to introduce a parakeet to my home as a flock companion for Shale, the expert advisors (those store owners) didn’t know if it would work. I guess I used my intuition and it did work out for us. However, note that Shale’s attachment to me was always intense. If Shale had it her way, she would never have left the two foot range of my body for one second of her life.

I loved my Shale bird so much, so so much!! Shale passed 9 years ago. Since she passed, I have not had a pair-bonded relationship with a parrot. Since she passed, I have had pairs of parakeets who pair bond to one another and have a lightly physical relationship with me as a flock member (who feeds them, ha ha!). Some day, I will, again, have a pair-bonded relationship with a parrot. But it is intense, and the grief of losing Shale was intense. So I just have not been ready yet.

I am fully disclosing all of this so that you can understand how to proceed. Perhaps understanding her needs better will help you and your husband to accept her for these needs. Maybe it can help you to adapt, relax, and understand how she can be happy in your home. Or, it could be that re-homing your macaw is the best option. If you do re-home her, then you will know that it is best to select people who understand the needs of parrots and/or who have experience with parrots. Or, you could find someone who is capable of fulfilling her social needs, someone who has the time, patience, commitment and availability and can be educated about her needs as I was when I first got Shale. This is for you to consider.

You all are in my heart and prayers. Please do keep me posted, if it is convenient.

    Many blessings.

What is Animal and Nature Communication?

How did I feel Aramis say something to me? Was it just physical cues? Surprisingly, these are questions that simply did not arise in me. Everyone who said “He’ll let you know” was correct. I had no doubt that I felt Aramis’ statement. I understood it as clearly as hearing any statement with my physical ears from a human.

Is telepathy an esoteric phenomenon? With what kind of regularity can it occur? How is it possible? And, even if telepathy is possible, do animals have a level of consciousness that corresponds to the human consciousness so that we could engage in profound communication?

I know that you are reading this because you have a belief that humans and animals have relationships that reach to the level of the soul. I know that you feel the power of being composed of the Earth, herself. Even if you think you are reading this as a skeptic, you are attracted to this because you have a desire and a knowing that we experience love with animals and nature in a manner that is complete, thorough, nuanced and intelligent. In this book, I hope to help you give yourself permission to live these truths. I learned theses truths from animals, trees, insects, minerals and elements themselves, honest to God.

And so, what is animal and nature communication?

    We are energy.

“Beginning with Einstein, physics has assured us that this solidity is a mirage… the essential ‘stuff’ of the universe is ‘non-stuff.’ – Deepak Chopra

Everything that can and cannot be perceived is made of energy. This is probably not news to anyone who remembers a bit from a high school science class, listens to spiritual teachers like Deepak Chopra or has a cursory understanding of physics. But, perhaps, many do not daily think about this concept. For me, deeply understanding that we are energy catalyzed a great shift in my perspective; a shift from experiencing my Being as detached and inert in a world of random discord, to the knowing that I am composed of inspired, fluid and pure creativity, and that unification is the paramount reality. In essence, continuing to deepen my understanding of the concept that the universe is made of energy has become the basis of my relationship with animals and nature, with myself and everyone and everything with which I come into contact. How this concept, that everything/one is energy, helps to answer the question, “What is animal and nature communication?” can be discovered in another one of Deepak Chopra’s quotes:

“Where there is energy, there is information.” – Deepak Chopra

In short, animal and nature communication is receiving the information contained in an energy collection that is being expressed as an animal or an element of nature. What I know as my cat, Aramis, is a collection of energy. When Aramis and I shared affection, laughs and even mundane communication like “Please feed me,” we were exchanging information from the energy source we each identified as the self. Pretty simple, right? But there is more to it than this surface kind of information. We, as in everyone/thing, are consistently exchanging volumes of subtle information with one another telepathically, or energetically.

So the next obvious question is: how can you intentionally receive the more subtle energetic information?

A practical example of how we receive information from energy is the radio. Less than 200 years ago, in 1820, scientists began harnessing electromagnetic waves with the intent of “wireless telephony.” Just shy of a century later, the world experienced the first public radio broadcast. In times and cultures preceding the scientific advent of radio communication, had someone suggested that one could throw one’s voice across the world in an instant, they may have been hunted down like a witch and tried for blasphemy! For more than a century now, we have been casually flipping on the radio and a D.J. speaks to us in nearly real time to introduce a message from another person whose voice is coming to us from the past via what we know as a recording. Instantaneous remote communication is now common and practical. We aren’t even talking about the Internet yet!

So is it so difficult to accept that Aramis sent me a subtle energetic message? Perhaps this practice will be mainstream very soon. Perhaps, soon, science will begin to help us believe in telepathy. But why wait for someone else to give you permission to engage in a part of existence that is fulfilling if you can access it now?

“A miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love.” – Marianne Williamson

Our perception has dramatically shifted from the gripping fear of witches throwing their voices to easily connecting with fellow humans. We share art, ideas, cultural experiences and, to be sure, all of the darker aspects of human expression, every day through methods of electronic communication. Did we invent it? Not truly. Electromagnetic waves always existed. Scientists simply (maybe not so simply) learned how to allow us intentional engagement through radio waves. It’s a miracle!

[1]“If there were one religion that is closest to the truth, the very powerful aspects of the receptive levels of science would be the most accurate, for, indeed my infant, the action of science is a constant state of wonderment… [This makes it] most powerfully close to the truth.” – Dr. James Martin Peebles (1822 – 1922), as channeled by Natalie Gianelli in 2014, in response to the question by filmmaker Kevin Aguilar, “In your opinion, what is the most accurate religion or the one that comes closest to the truth?”

I am not a scientist, let alone a physicist. I embrace a somewhat popular modern identity of being spiritual but not religious. More to the point, I am a creative, a Healing Artist (this is concept is more thoroughly explained ahead.) However, I am inspired by science and I find it useful in the process of building beliefs.

Beliefs are the structure we use to allow experience. Intentionally building that structure is key to living a freely expressed life. Accepting by default and without review socially imposed beliefs stunts experience. Therefore, I like to use science, as well as other schools of thought, to help me be me. I like to let me rule me. I trust myself to have my best interests at heart; who has a purer motivation?

The love that I feel for animals and nature outweighed anyone else’s fear based beliefs about what is impossible to share with them. The love that Ami and I shared (indeed, share) broke down old beliefs because that love was too big for those constraints.

And so, I do look to science for inspiration, for a way to help me align intellectually with what I feel in my heart. You could say I dabble in consuming the works of quantum physicists to the degree to which I’m able to digest them. Quantum physics sparks in me a drive for metaphysical exploration. To me, these two are complimentary.

For example, my understanding of quantum entanglement leads directly into the feeling of my practice of telepathy. [2]Quantum entanglement is when two particles act together in an entangled system. This means that they behave like one object even though they are physically apart. It suggests that space is just the construct that gives the illusion that there are separate objects. Fascinating! As an artist I am inspired to hear in quantum entanglement that separation of any kind is an illusion. Therefore, it is easy to receive information from “another” because the “other” is actually One with myself. Telepathic communication is a natural state of exchange. Energetic unity is more pure than verbal communication.

“I would like it if you could help more humans understand that they can turn on this communication. Mother Earth will be healthier when humans learn this.” – Nalu, the cat.

Telepathy is our – as in, us humans – first language. Parents and babies communicate telepathically. If asked, most parents would rationalize their understanding of their baby by assuming that they have memorized facial expressions or tones and patterns of cries. This rationalization is prompted by an unexamined externally imposed belief about what is possible.

It is true that a baby’s brain begins learning verbal language at every step. However, telepathy, a more subtle method of communication, is the basis for the exchange of information between baby and parent. As verbal and physical communication is emphasized, the child de-emphasizes telepathic communication in favor of adapting to the family and social group. After all, as children, we are dependent upon our relationships with others for survival. In short, we humans “forget” that we communicate telepathically.

Another time we experience heightened telepathic ability is when we are in the early stages of a romantic love relationship. As with your newborn, your intention is dialed into understanding your new partner. While it may be an exhilarating time, the beginning of a relationship leaves you feeling vulnerable and scared. Mating, like parenting, triggers primal responses. In a new romantic relationship, there is a palpable urgency to understand one another so as to hasten the completion or dissolution of the bond. “We finish each others’ sentences!” is a classic milestone for a new relationship. In both situations of either parenting or partnering, people may not be aware that they’re communicating telepathically, but the need to understand is so prioritized that the subtle ability functions without their conscious awareness.

Birth, love and death: these life experiences that are so impactful that they can effect existential questioning. I am grateful to my sweet Aramis for using his departure to crack me open to experience more of my own truth.

When a person is experiencing a period of higher than normal function of telepathy, the biggest threat to the flow is fear. A mother’s worry about her sick child causes her to feel helpless and disconnected from understanding what her baby needs. A partner fearing that his new relationship may fall apart drives him into a state of panic and projection. Fear takes a sharp turn away from trust and love. Love is the frequency upon which true connection travels.

The following is an excerpt from the forthcoming book:
    Animals Are Whos Too:
What Animals Teach Me about Life, Love and the Universe
    By Patricia Aaron Carr

    “He’ll let you know.”

This is what the veterinarian told me when I asked about my sweet Aramis, my cat of almost 16 years. Aramis, whom I often called “Ami” [AH-mee] for short, had been failing in health for a few months.

“How long am I supposed to let him suffer?”

This was my question, the one that I asked of the medical doctor. This veterinarian was neither a holistic practitioner nor a metaphysical healer of any kind. This veterinarian was a traditional Western medical doctor who, up to this point, had given me purely medical advice.

“How can that be the answer? That’s not scientific. You’re a doctor, how can that be your answer?” These words came forth more as despair than challenge.

I was in pain. I knew that I was going to have to say goodbye to my Ami, but what my heart could hardly tolerate was his suffering. Aramis’ dying seemed more painful for me than his death could possibly be. The veterinarian empathized with silence and presence. I appreciated her care and silently returned empathy for the fact that she has a life dedicated to countless moments just like this one.

The decline of Aramis’ health had accelerated in the recent weeks and days. However, we were at a screaming stand still of suffering. He was eating and drinking – although not a lot, and moving around also, not a lot. These are the indicators that we, animal caregivers, are told will be the harbingers that it is time. Time to make that decision that we make. It is a Sophie’s choice kind of responsibility. Our hearts can hardly tolerate too soon or too late.

In addition to this veterinarian, I had heard “He’ll let you know” from my second and third opinion veterinarians and from holistic pet store employees. I stood at the counter of the pet store after a kindhearted, 20-something employee had helped me to find a food supplement that intended to help Aramis to put on some weight. At check out, I broke down into tears and asked this sweet clerk, “Am I supposed to just watch him starve to death?” His colleague approached in a show of support but they were both at a loss as to how to respond. They advised me to come the next morning to ask the storeowner.

As it turned out, Aramis did let me know. I had spent the night waking every half hour to check on him. At one point, I found him crumpled in an unusual position on the bathroom tile a couple of feet away from his litter box. As I reached for him, my wish was that this was his last moment. I hoped that I would cradle him in my arms and as we made eye contact, he would peacefully pass. His suffering would be over and I would not have had to make the choice. That did not happen. I cradled Ami for a few minutes, feeling his warm emaciated body. Then, I placed him on the bath mat and pulled down some towels for me to lie next to him.

The next day, he was still barely eating and drinking and barely moving.
“Is it now? I can’t tell!”

About midday, once again, I cradled Aramis in my arms, this time to feed him some water with a syringe. As weak as he was, Aramis shook his head hard, rejecting my offer. Then, he looked into my face. His pupils were extremely dilated and his vision was poor due to a brain lesion. However, Ami gave me the look I had silently begged for the night before.

“No more. It is time,” I felt my Ami say.

  • Lost Animals and Animal Communication

    Lost Animals and Animal Communication

    [et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]

If you are experiencing the heartbreak of a lost animal companion, here is how an animal communicator may help. It could be helpful to read my other blog post, An Explanation of Animal Communication, before reading the following. Above all, it may be helpful to think of any spiritual sensory function as a creative gift and skill, akin to a musician working from her talent and with her muse as well as depending upon developed technical skills.

An animal communicator would reach out to the lost animal and ask him/her to share his/her perspective. One way a communicator will do this is by asking permission to remote view, that is, to see what the animal is seeing through his/her eyes. With lost animals, this can be helpful.

I’ll be honest, sometimes the information gained from remote viewing can frustrate a paniked and grieving human because the animal shows the communicator literally what s/he sees. So, for example, if the animal sees grass, a brick wall and a red-headed lady inside a yellow house – while these are fairly specific details – they may be the description a place unfamiliar to the humans. Another example: the animal could describe the inside of a house, such as, “I’m inside. I’m under a glass table on brown carpet and I can see horizontal blinds. There is a man, a woman, a baby and a small dog. They gave me tuna for dinner.” Again, that is only helpful if the humans already know that family or, perhaps, choose to go knocking door-to-door.

An animal won’t communicate, “I went three blocks south east and then turned west at the corner of Main.” This information isn’t in her/his purview; they don’t use maps or street names like humans.

On the other hand, helpful information an animal could share or show is if s/he explains what happened. For example, if s/he was put in a carrier and driven to a shelter, this could described in a clear manner. Then, the humans may decide to check local shelters.

And then there is the potential of receiving information that may be challenging to hear. An animal could have had a reason that s/he left home intentionally. There could be an issue that caused him/her personal discomfort. Sadly, there is the possibility that the animal left because s/he was ill and wanted to pass away in private. These are tough potential realities.

I offer this information so that if you choose to hire an animal communicator to help you with your lost animal (and I do think it is a good idea), you can have appropriate expectations and make the best use of the service.
